Pumps for Waste Water Treatment
02/03/2023Untreated wastewater can cause environmental pollution and harm aquatic life by transmitting pathogens and chemicals harmful to human health. Compliance with wastewater treatment regulations is mandatory and non-compliance can result in fines and other penalties. Since this activity is of vital importance to the plant and involves numerous risks, it is necessary to manage it with materials and technologies capable of adequately handling these liquid substances in an efficient way.
ARGAL offers suitable solutions for process needs, thanks to a choice of materials and technologies suitable for plants and liquids.
Our Solutions
To choose the most suitable pump for the task, several factors must be taken into consideration, including viscosity, wastewater density, and required flow.
π Horizontal Centrifugal Pumps
Available in several versions and in several sizes, our horizontal centrifugal solutions meet multiple needs and allow the handling of waste water and chemical solutions in complete safety: they guarantee continuous (24/24) or occasional operation, flow rates up to 1700 m3/h and suction height up to 8 meters.
Thanks to the different thermoplastic materials and thermosetting resins, ARGAL pumps cover the pumping of any type of liquid: containing toxic particles, abrasive or extremely corrosive solids.
They are generally used to transfer waste water laden with waste or scrubbing solutions (mixture of concentrated acids).
ARGAL centrifugal pump ranges are available in two internal configurations depending on the pumped liquid:
-
The version with mechanical seal is recommended for liquids laden with solids, containing waste particles and for fairly viscous or abrasive liquids.
-
The magnetic drive version is recommended for clean liquids, without the presence of solids or particles. If the liquid contains solids, it is not recommended.

π Vertical centrifugal pumps
Vertical centrifugal pumps have a column and a vertical shaft to be immersed in the pumped liquid. They are ideal for wastewater management as they guarantee reliable operations and limit the risk of contamination: if the system stops and the pump stops too, there is no risk of leakage because it is immersed in the liquid without contact with the outside.
They are mainly installed in scrubber units, fume abatement towers or in storage tanks for moving waste liquids.

π Air-operated double diaphragm pumps
Air operated double diaphragm pumps are commonly used in wastewater management due to their ability to handle a wide range of fluids including those containing solids, slurries and abrasive materials.
They are also self-priming and can run dry without damage, making them ideal for applications where a constant flow is required.
